Frequently Asked Questions
Where are lessons held?
Most lessons are held at the Torch School of Music. We are in Hendersonville, just off Spartanburg highway by ingles and the Co-op. In some cases, lessons can be done in your home. Otherwise, lessons can meet virtually in our JackTrip studio (more info on jacktrip.com). The link for login will be provided before the lesson.
What if I can’t attend my lesson?
We require 24 hours notice to cancel a lesson. Cancellation within 24 hours will result in a charge of 75% the lesson price. Missing a lesson will result in a charge of the full lesson price. However, in emergencies, their is a little lenience.
Do I need to own an instrument to take lessons?
I have enough instruments here to accommodate a student using something in house. However, I do not have loaner instruments. If you want to try guitar, ukulele, drums, etc., taking a couple of lessons is a great way to see if you like it. Once you are further in, you will need something to practice on when you aren’t here. Also, having your own instrument is great because part of the learning process is growing accustomed to your instrument. It is like a friendship.
Drum lessons interestingly, don’t “need” any materials. We can learn a lot by using our hands on our knees. However, sticks are usually the bare minimum of what is needed for what most people want to learn.
What payment methods are accepted?
Cash, check, Venmo, or Zelle are acceptable. Lessons can be paid for one by one or in multi lesson chunks.
When are lessons held?
Monday-Saturday 9am to 8pm is possible, however I try to group lessons together and already have existing commitments. When thinking about lessons, it’s good to have a few possible options.
